Painting is my passion.

When I was nineteen years old, I travelled to Skye, and the island became the magical place that continues to influence my creative process.

The paper, raw canvas and paints that I choose are in response to Skye’s extraordinary changing colours, stunning and nearly otherworldly light, and marriage of fierce and sensuous land forms.

Nowadays, I revel in the rough texture of Australian archival sanded paper, the purest pastel pigments (English, French and American), luminous paints with a gentle suggestion of line, the curve of a pencil point or the brash, bold side of a handmade pastel.

With images that call to mind the abstract- expressionists, Fauvists and ‘my beloved’ Scottish Colourists, I do not try to replicate nature (as I did in my student years: now I paint intuitively in nature in all her permutations, and in response to not only what I see, but what I feel.

Awarded both a BFA and MFA, Diane studied at Boston University, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts School and Bennington College. She has won numerous awards for her paintings; she is the director of international painting workshops and is included in Who’s Who in American Women. Diane exhibits internationally and enjoys the patronage of private and corporate collectors on both sides of the pond.
